Baby moisturizer OEM/ODM manufacturing
Baby Moisturizer · Baby Lotion · Baby Cream · OEM/ODM
Baby skin loses water faster than adult skin and dries or cracks easily in dry weather or after a warm bath, so moisturizing is a daily step for parents. Baby moisturizers are applied over large areas and stay on the skin for hours — so every ingredient, from emulsifiers and base oils to preservatives and fragrance, has to be chosen carefully and given a dedicated safety assessment for children under 3. A good baby formula is usually short: plant oils, humectants, barrier-supporting ingredients such as ceramides, and a preservative system that is mild yet reliable. Butter-C offers full-service OEM/ODM manufacturing, from formula to labeled finished goods and the cosmetic product notification dossier.
Formula base
Oil-in-water emulsion with plant oils and ceramides
Baby moisturizers are usually lotions that spread easily over large areas, or thicker creams for dry spots.
Base oils
Shea butter, sunflower oil, medium-chain triglycerides, squalane — soften skin, low odor.
Hydration and barrier care
Glycerin, panthenol, ceramides, cholesterol — support the skin's protective barrier.
Emulsifiers
Olive-derived emulsifier system, glyceryl stearate, cetearyl alcohol — mild and stable.
Preservation
Low levels of phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin, or an organic acid system; no ingredients restricted for children under 3.
Key technical points
Four factors that determine baby moisturizer quality
Fast-absorbing, non-greasy
Oil level and oil types are balanced so the product spreads quickly on a wriggling baby and does not stick to clothing.
Compliant preservatives
Some preservatives may not be used in leave-on products for children under 3 or on the diaper area. Butter-C selects a suitable system and challenge-tests it on the final formula.
Few potential allergens
Fragrance-free or very lightly scented; limited essential oils; no colorants.
A dedicated safety assessment
The safety assessment is calculated on the child's application area and body weight, not on adult data.
Three formulation directions
Three common baby moisturizer lines
Daily lotion
Light and fast-absorbing, applied all over after bathing.
Cream for dry skin
Richer, with more shea butter and ceramides, for cheeks, elbows and knees in dry weather.
Multi-purpose balm
Anhydrous, with butters and beeswax, for small chapped areas such as cheeks and lips.
Packaging designed with the formula
Pump bottles for lotion, tubes for cream, small jars for balm; large jars are avoided to limit contamination from dipping fingers.
Parameters we monitor
What our R&D lab measures on every sample
These are the parameters Butter-C monitors during formula development and scale-up to production. Specific limits are agreed with you on the approved sample and then written into the product's in-house specification.
- pH
- Measured at batching and after aging.
- Viscosity
- Across temperatures, so the pump or tube dispenses evenly.
- Emulsion stability
- Centrifugation and freeze–thaw cycling; no oil separation.
- Microbiology
- Tested at a GLP / ISO 17025-accredited laboratory against criteria for children's products.
- Preservative performance
- Preservative efficacy (challenge) test on the final formula.
- Heavy metals
- Tested on the finished product for children's products.
- Peroxide value
- Monitors rancidity of plant oils over time.
- Packaging compatibility
- Pumps, tubes and jars checked after aging.
