Baby powder OEM/ODM manufacturing
Baby Powder · Talc-Free Baby Powder · OEM/ODM
Baby powder is familiar to generations of Vietnamese parents, especially on hot, humid days, to keep the folds of a baby's skin dry and comfortable. What matters with baby powder is not a complex formula but the powder raw materials and how the product is used: the powder must be clean and, if talc, free of asbestos; particles must be fine yet produce as little airborne dust as possible; and the label must remind parents to keep the powder away from the child's nose and mouth. The current trend favors talc-free powders made from rice, corn and tapioca starch. Butter-C offers turnkey OEM/ODM manufacturing, from the formula to labeled finished goods and the notification dossier.
Formula base
A dry, water-free powder blend
Baby powder is an anhydrous powder product: a blend of moisture-absorbing powders, slip powders and a small amount of soothing ingredients.
Base powder
Talc certified asbestos-free, or rice, corn and tapioca starch for talc-free lines.
Supporting powders
Kaolin to absorb moisture, silica to improve flow, a small amount of zinc oxide.
Soothing agents
Allantoin, calendula or chamomile extract in powder form.
Scent
Fragrance-free or very lightly scented for children.
Key technical points
Four factors that decide baby powder quality
Clean powder raw materials
Talc must come with the supplier's certificate that it is free of asbestos contamination; starches must meet microbiological standards, as powders pick up microbes more easily than one might think.
Limiting dust
Particle size and powder density are chosen so the powder clings to skin and floats less; a small-hole shaker cap controls the amount.
Slip and flow
Slip powders and absorbent powders are blended so the powder does not cake in humid weather.
Mandatory warning
Powder products containing talc intended for children under 3 must carry the warning "Keep powder away from children's nose and mouth".
Three formulation directions
Three common baby powder lines
Traditional talc baby powder
Asbestos-free talc base, silky and smooth; a familiar feel.
Talc-free baby powder
Rice, corn and tapioca starch and kaolin; natural positioning.
Herbal baby powder
A talc-free base with added leaf powders and powdered extracts; a light natural color.
Packaging designed with the formula
Containers with small-hole shaker caps, or with a powder puff; avoid wide-mouth containers to limit dust.
