Deodorant spray OEM/ODM manufacturing
Deodorant Spray · Foot Deodorant Spray · OEM/ODM
A deodorant spray is a convenient way to deodorize areas where a cream is hard to apply: underarms in a hurry, the back, the feet, and even shoes. It sprays a fine mist that dries almost instantly and never touches the skin by hand, which makes it suitable for sharing at the gym or at home. Pump sprays use no propellant, so they are more compact and easier to ship than aerosol cans; the base is usually alcohol or a water–alcohol blend carrying the deodorant actives and fragrance. The technical challenge comes down to three points: an even, fine spray, quick drying without drying out or stinging the skin, and a fragrance that lasts without becoming overpowering. Butter-C offers full-service OEM/ODM manufacturing, from formula development to a finished, labeled product with its cosmetic product notification.
Formula base
Volatile solvents, deodorant actives and fragrance
A pump deodorant spray is a clear solution; with no thickener, every ingredient must be fully dissolved.
Solvents
Alcohol for an instantly dry, cooling feel; water and glycols for gentle alcohol-free lines. The ratio determines drying speed and stinging.
Deodorant actives
Triethyl Citrate, Zinc Ricinoleate, Ethylhexylglycerin, green tea and sage extracts — limit odor formation on skin.
Antiperspirant salts (optional)
Aluminum Chlorohydrate in solution form can be used in pump sprays, within permitted limits and with a warning; aluminum–zirconium complexes are not used in spray formats.
Fragrance and sensory
A light, long-lasting fragrance, with fragrance solubilizers for water bases; Menthol and peppermint oil for a cooling feel in foot and sport lines.
Key technical points
Four factors that define deodorant spray quality
Clear solution, no precipitation
Fragrance, extracts and salts must be fully dissolved and stay clear at low temperatures; even fine sediment can clog the nozzle.
Even spray
Solution viscosity must match the pump; spray pattern, output per actuation and clogging after repeated use are checked.
Quick-drying without stinging
Alcohol speeds drying but can sting freshly shaved skin; humectants and soothing agents are added to rebalance.
Safe manufacturing and shipping
Alcohol bases are flammable — they require a fire-safe compounding area, warning labels and appropriate shipping arrangements.
Three formulation directions
Three common deodorant spray lines
Body deodorant spray
Alcohol and fragrance, deodorizing underarms and body; a pleasant scent that dries instantly.
Foot and shoe deodorant spray
A cooling mint feel, deodorant actives, and fine moisture-absorbing powder in some formulas; for feet and the inside of shoes.
Gentle alcohol-free deodorant spray
A water and glycol base that does not sting; suited to sensitive skin and freshly shaved areas. Dries more slowly than alcohol-based lines.
Packaging is designed together with the formula
Plastic or glass bottles with a pump mist sprayer. Aerosol cans require a dedicated line — please discuss separately if you need this format.
Parameters we monitor
What our R&D lab measures on every sample
Below are the parameters Butter-C monitors during formula development and scale-up to production. Specific limits are agreed with you on the approved sample and then written into the product's in-house specification.
- Clarity
- Checked at room temperature and after cold storage; no cloudiness, no sediment.
- Alcohol content
- Monitored against the formula; it determines drying speed and shipping safety requirements.
- pH (water-based lines)
- Measured at 25°C; it affects mildness and preservative efficacy.
- Spray pattern and output
- Checked on the actual pump that will be used; weight per actuation and consistency.
- Stability
- Storage at 40°C and at low temperature; monitored for changes in color and odor, and precipitation.
- Microbiology
- Tested at a GLP / ISO 17025-accredited laboratory; water-based lines also undergo a preservative efficacy (challenge) test to ISO 11930.
- Aluminum salt content (if used)
- Monitored against the formula and tested in the finished product, within permitted limits.
- Packaging compatibility
- Monitored for nozzle clogging, leakage, evaporation through the neck and plastic embrittlement caused by alcohol.
