Baby massage oil OEM/ODM manufacturing
Baby Massage Oil · Baby Oil · OEM/ODM
Massaging a baby after bath time is a routine many families keep — it helps keep the skin moisturized and is a moment of closeness between parent and child. A baby massage oil needs just enough slip for hands to glide gently, without being greasy or having a harsh scent, and above all without ingredients unsuitable for young children, such as strong essential oils. There are two base-oil directions: plant oils, which carry a natural story but need protection against rancidity, and refined mineral oil, which is stable and odorless. Whichever you choose, the packaging should make it hard for children to open and swallow the product. Butter-C provides full-service OEM/ODM manufacturing, from formula to labeled finished goods with the cosmetic product notification.
Formula base
A water-free oil blend with good oxidation resistance
Baby massage oil is an anhydrous (water-free) product, so it does not need a preservative system like a cream does, but plant oils need protection against rancidity.
Plant oils
Sunflower, jojoba, olive, rice bran oil, medium-chain triglycerides — light, with little odor.
Refined mineral oil
Highly refined paraffin oil — odorless, does not go rancid, stable pricing.
Oil-infused extracts
Calendula and chamomile infused in oil — a soothing story.
Antioxidant
Tocopherol (vitamin E) keeps plant oils from going rancid over time.
Key technical points
Four factors that determine the quality of a baby massage oil
Slip and absorption
Heavy and light oils are blended so hands glide long enough for one massage, after which the oil absorbs without feeling sticky.
Rancidity control
Oxidation-stable plant oils, added vitamin E and light-blocking packaging; peroxide value is monitored.
No strong ingredients
No peppermint, cajeput or camphor oils for young children; caution with nut oils that carry allergy risk, such as peanut oil.
Packaging that limits child access
A secure screw cap or child-resistant closure; the label clearly states to keep out of reach of children and to avoid the face and nose.
Three formulation directions
Three common types of baby massage oil
Fragrance-free plant oil
Sunflower, jojoba, vitamin E; natural positioning with a short ingredient list.
Refined mineral oil
Paraffin oil with vitamin E, odorless; stable pricing and long-lasting.
Gentle herbal oil
Base oil with calendula and chamomile infused in oil; a natural pale yellow color.
Packaging is planned with the formula
Shatterproof plastic bottles, screw caps or leak-resistant flip-top caps; dark bottles for plant oils.
Parameters we monitor
What our R&D lab measures on every sample
Below are the parameters Butter-C monitors during formula development and scale-up to production. Specific limits are agreed with you on the approved sample and then written into the product's in-house specification.
- Peroxide value
- Tracks rancidity of plant oils at manufacture and after aging.
- Acid value
- Tracks oil stability.
- Clarity, color, odor
- No clouding in the cold; stable odor.
- Viscosity
- Measured at room temperature against the reference sample.
- Microbiology
- Tested at a GLP / ISO 17025-accredited laboratory.
- Heavy metals
- Tested on the finished product for products intended for children.
- Packaging compatibility
- Plastic bottles are checked against the oil, along with cap leakage.
