Aftershave balm OEM/ODM manufacturing
Aftershave Balm · Aftershave Lotion · OEM/ODM
After shaving, the outermost layer of skin has just been through the friction of the blade, so it easily feels dry, tight and stinging. An aftershave product is there to soothe, hold in moisture and leave a refreshing feel — along with a scent that many men consider their personal "signature". There are two schools: the classic alcohol-based lotion, cooling and toning; and the alcohol-free balm, gentler and suited to sensitive skin and daily shavers. The current trend leans toward balms, because high alcohol content can leave freshly shaved skin stinging and dry. Butter-C offers full-service OEM/ODM manufacturing, from formula to a labeled finished product with its cosmetic product notification.
Formula base
Light emulsion balm or water–alcohol lotion
A balm is a light, fast-absorbing oil-in-water emulsion; a lotion is a water–alcohol solution that evaporates quickly for a cooling feel.
Soothing
Aloe vera, panthenol, allantoin, bisabolol, centella asiatica.
Light toning
Witch hazel water — a toning feel and a classic story.
Moisturizing
Glycerin, squalane, light oils in the balm line.
Scent and sensation
Woody, citrus, herbal scents; low-dose menthol.
Key technical points
Four things that determine aftershave quality
No stinging
Freshly shaved skin is very reactive — alcohol, fragrance and menthol must all be kept low; the balm line is alcohol-free.
Fast-absorbing, non-greasy
Men apply it and go; low oil content and light emollients.
Long-lasting but not harsh scent
Scent is the signature; woody and citrus notes at moderate levels, with fragrance allergens declared when above the threshold.
Stability
Plant extracts and fragrance discolor easily — antioxidants and light-blocking packaging.
