Foot cream OEM/ODM manufacturing
Foot Cream · Heel Balm · Foot Peeling Mask · OEM/ODM
The heel is an area of thick skin that bears the body's full weight with every step and has few sebaceous glands, so it easily becomes dry, rough and cracked — especially with open sandals, long hours standing or dry seasons. A foot cream differs from an ordinary moisturizer in that it must soften a very thick stratum corneum: higher concentrations of softening agents and a richer occlusive layer. The category also includes a popular format, the foot peeling sock, which uses mild acids so excess dead skin gradually sheds over a few days. Butter-C offers full-service OEM/ODM manufacturing, from formula development to a finished, labeled product with its cosmetic product notification.
Formula base
Softening thick skin, sealing in moisture and a cooling feel
Heels need softening agents at higher concentrations than elbows and knees, plus a durable occlusive layer to keep working overnight.
Softening agents
High-concentration Urea, with low levels of Lactic Acid and Salicylic Acid — loosen the thick outer layer so heels feel softer and smoother.
Occlusives
Purified petrolatum, lanolin, shea butter — hold water in skin with few sebaceous glands.
Soothing and cooling
Allantoin and Panthenol to soothe; Menthol and peppermint oil for a cooling feel after a day in shoes.
Peeling sock format
A mild acid solution soaked into a sock and left on the feet; excess dead skin gradually sheds over the following days.
Key technical points
Four factors that define foot cream quality
High-concentration Urea that stays stable
Urea breaks down into ammonia, raising the pH and causing odor; a lactate buffer, a suitable pH and adding it during the cool-down phase keep the cream stable throughout shelf life.
Rich but not slippery
A foot cream must not make walking slippery; the texture absorbs just enough, and directions may suggest wearing socks after evening application.
The right acid level
For peeling socks, acid concentration and pH determine how much skin sheds and how gentle it is; soaking time is clearly stated on the label.
Packaging that withstands acids and Urea
Tubes and jars must withstand the pH of the cream; peeling sock pouches need a barrier film that the solution cannot penetrate.
Three formulation directions
Three product formats for heels
Urea heel cream
A thick cream with high-concentration Urea; applied in the evening, optionally with socks for better conditioning.
Heel balm stick
An anhydrous base of butters, waxes and oils; applied directly to the heels and easy to carry; seals in moisture well but cannot carry high Urea levels.
Foot peeling socks
A mild acid solution inside the sock; used periodically, with excess dead skin shedding over a few days after use.
Packaging is designed together with the formula
Tubes, jars, twist-up sticks, sock pouches with a barrier film. Each format has its own requirements for sealing and acid resistance.
Parameters we monitor
What our R&D lab measures on every sample
Below are the parameters Butter-C monitors during formula development and scale-up to production. Specific limits are agreed with you on the approved sample and then written into the product's in-house specification.
- pH over time
- Measured at the time of manufacture and after aging tests; Urea breakdown is monitored.
- Odor
- Monitored for ammonia odor and the stability of the mint scent after storage at 40°C.
- Emulsion stability
- Centrifugation, freeze–thaw cycling and storage at 40°C; monitored for separation and Urea crystallization.
- Acid content (peeling socks)
- Monitored against the formula; solution pH and fill volume per pouch are checked.
- Microbiology and preservative efficacy
- Tested at a GLP / ISO 17025-accredited laboratory; preservative efficacy (challenge) test to ISO 11930.
- On-skin assessment
- Heel softness after one and multiple uses, cooling feel, slipperiness when walking.
- Restricted active content
- Salicylic Acid and other restricted actives are monitored against the formula and tested when needed.
- Packaging compatibility
- Monitored for tube corrosion, pouch swelling and solution leakage.
Claims
Writing claims within the cosmetic scope
Cracked heels and calluses are easily described in terms that go beyond the cosmetic scope. Butter-C reviews the wording on the label and marketing materials while preparing the notification dossier.
