Floor cleaner OEM/ODM manufacturing
Floor Cleaner · Floor Cleaning Liquid · OEM/ODM
Floor cleaner is used daily on many surfaces: ceramic tile, polished porcelain, stone, solid wood and laminate flooring. Each floor type tolerates a different pH, amount of water and solvent, so a single formula rarely suits them all. Users expect a clean floor that dries quickly, leaves no streaks or sticky film, foams little so it needs no rinsing, and leaves a pleasant scent. The product can be a concentrate diluted with a measuring cap or a ready-to-use solution. Technically, floor cleaner is a solution mixed at room temperature and filled into bottles and canisters — close to how liquid cosmetics such as shower gels and body sprays are made. Please note: floor cleaner is a household cleaning product, not a cosmetic, and has no cosmetic product notification; the label follows the rules on product labeling, with safety warnings appropriate to the ingredients. A product that wants to make claims about acting on bacteria or insects falls under the household and medical-use preparations category and requires its own registration. Butter-C advises on formulation and packaging; the manufacturing arrangement and dossier are discussed separately for each project.
Formula base
Low-foam nonionic surfactants, a mild solvent and fragrance
Floor cleaner is a low-concentration cleaning solution that evaporates evenly so the floor dries quickly without leaving a film.
Low-foam cleansers
Short-chain alcohol ethoxylates and C8–C10 alkyl glucosides — lift soil, wet surfaces well and foam little, so no rinsing is needed.
Mild solvent
A propylene-based glycol ether or a little alcohol — dissolves grease and footprints and helps the floor dry evenly.
Buffers and chelators
Citrate, GLDA, and soda ash for tile lines — keep the pH right for the floor type and limit hard-water residue.
Fragrance and solubilizer
Synthetic fragrance or essential oils are pre-solubilized so the solution stays clear without an oily film on top.
Key technical points
Four things that decide the quality of a floor cleaner
No streaks
Surfactant and dissolved solids must be low enough not to leave streaks or a sticky film as the water evaporates.
Evaporation, quick drying
Balance solvent and cleanser so the floor dries evenly; wood floors need little standing water.
Safe for the surface
pH and solvent chosen by floor type: wood is water-sensitive, limestone and marble are acid-sensitive; tested on material samples before the formula is fixed.
Clear fragrance that lingers
Fragrance must fully dissolve without separating; scent persistence after mopping is assessed by sensory panel.
Three formulation directions
Three common types of floor cleaner
Wood floors
Neutral pH, little standing water, no strong solvents; protects the wood finish.
Ceramic and polished tile
Mildly alkaline to lift grease in kitchens and entryways; chelators limit hard-water residue.
Essential oil scented
Citronella, cinnamon or lemon scent from essential oils, solubilized with a fragrance solubilizer; claims are about scent only.
Packaging must be planned with the formula
Bottle with measuring cap, large canister, refill pouch; materials that withstand solvents and essential oils.
Parameters we monitor
What our R&D lab measures on every sample
Below are the parameters monitored during formula development. Specific limits are agreed with you on the approved sample and then written into the product's in-house specification.
- pH
- Measured on the solution when freshly made and after aging.
- Surfactant content
- Per formula, assayed on the finished product.
- Streaking after mopping
- Mopped on polished tile, ceramic tile and wood samples at the recommended dilution, checking for streaks and film once dry.
- Evaporation rate
- Drying time on sample surfaces compared with a control.
- Surface safety
- Solution left in contact with floor material samples, checking for fading, loss of gloss or finish blistering.
- Foam, clarity
- Low foam when diluted; clear solution with no fragrance separation across temperatures.
- Microbiology
- Tested at a GLP / ISO 17025-accredited laboratory.
- Packaging compatibility
- Bottle, measuring cap and canister checked after aging.
Claims
Writing claims that fit the product category
A floor cleaner only talks about cleaning surfaces and scent; claims about bacteria, insects or health belong to other categories.
Removes dirt and grease from floors
Describes the cleaning function accurately.
Quick drying, streak-free
Describes the result when diluted and used as directed.
Suitable for wood or tile floors, by line
Describes the formula's properties, tested on material samples.
Citronella scent, cinnamon scent
Instead of: insect-repellent claims without a regulated-preparation dossier.
Helps remove odors from floors through cleaning and fragrance
Instead of: claims of killing microorganisms on floors without a regulated-preparation dossier.
Directions and warnings
Dilute with the measuring cap; avoid the eyes; do not swallow; keep away from children and pets; on wood or stone, test first in an inconspicuous spot.
